This is the saga of The Barn.
We decided to find a company that not only would sell us the barn but
would handle the contracting to erect it as well, so we chose to deal with Morton
Buildings in Brownsville, Tennessee.
The bathroom is complete, and the barn party is over now. I'll
have some more photos up soon.

In January, we laid out the outline so we could figure out where to place it on the property. |

We had to leave room for septic field lines behind the barn because that is the way the land slopes.

In February, Terry Hooper completed the dirt work. This first photo is half-way through the job. |

One of the neighbor's dogs came to see what was up and decided to claim each pile as the driver unloaded them. By peeing on them. |

Once construction started, it didn't take Rusty and his crew long to get the layout right and sink the beginning of the posts. |

This is what the scene looked like at the end of Day 1 (Thursday, March 22). They have the walls built sitting on the ground.

Now for the amazing transformation. These are shots at the end of Day 2 (Friday, March 23). |

The barn is 36 by 45 feet.and the end doors are 16 feet wide, 10 feet tall. |

There is a 6 foot overhang on the back to keep tractor implements and other stuff (more or less) out of the rain. |

On Monday, March 26, they had most of the siding completed. |

Rusty said they'd have the building up by Wednesday, and it looks like he might just be right. |
|
For some reason I think they've done this before. Then the plumbing will be roughed-in, the concrete poured and then last are the overhead doors. |

It rained Wednesday, March 28, and made the site messy, but the crew worked anyway, and this is what it looked like this morning (Thursday). |

Rusty called and said they'd not be working Thursday, but said the crew will be back on Friday to wrap up the steelwork. |

The plumbers came Thursday morning to do the rough-in as well. 'Twas a wee bit muddy. |

Saturday, March 31. We had a spring frog-strangler, so we didn't go see the finished work because we'd have sunk up to our knees in the mud. |
