Joe Goodman and his restored 1957 Ferguson F-40

Joe sent me this email on August 14, 2007

My name is Joe Goodman and I live in southern Illinois.  I found your site and was amazed to see a picture of my '40'.  It was on the page of pictures from 'Salem 2002' when the Ferguson Enthusiasts were there in conjunction with Antique Power Days.  I finally got it finished in May.  This tractor has a lot of meaning to me as it has been in the family since it was new.  My great uncle bought it in 1957 and then upgraded to a Massey Ferguson 65.  My grandpa then bought it and used it to farm with but eventually retired it, and then I became its owner.  It has been a fun project along with stories from my uncle and grandpa.  Anyway, I will quit giving you the tractor's whole life story, LOL.  After seeing the picture on your site I felt it was only fair to include some pictures of the newly restored '40'.  As any tractor owner would agree, it feels good to 'show it off'.

The finished and restored tractor.

Attention to detail is what makes a good restoration great.

Brian, Terry, and Darrell Bolyard of Bolyard Paint Shop in Brownstown, Illinois. This was their first Ferguson tractor paint job.

The restored dash looking like it just came off the showroom floor.

The F-40 along with my Great Grandpa's Farmall M which my cousin owns now. It has been almost 30 years since they sat side by side.

All three owners since it was new. Left to right: Grandpa Gene, Uncle Basil, and myself.

The F-40 at a local parade, where it took 3rd place.
