Ragnar Jnasson and Ferguson-FelagidRagnar is a Ferguson enthusiast from Iceland who corresponded with me the week of September 10, 2007.My name is Ragnar Jnasson - I am 60 years old and live in Reykjavik, Iceland. The first Ferguson in Iceland came in 1949 from Britain. It was a TEA-20 which became the most popular tractor in Iceland. When I was a teenager I drove a Fergy from 1951 in the summers when I stayed on a farm for four summers. Since then I have had some "feelings" for this little tractor and now when I have 8 acres for a summerhouse I have a "need" for a tractor and I have two Fergusons, a TEF-20 from 1953 and aTEA-20 from 1955. They are both under restoration but I hope the TEA will be finished this year. When I started to look for spare parts, manuals, and how to do this or that I found very little in Icelandic so I decided to collect information and have them available for others on the web.Ferguson-Felagid ("The Ferguson-Society" or "The Ferguson-Club") is still rather informal but about 30 men from the age of 25 to 85 (the average is about 60!) have met and talked about Ferguson and Ferguson problems and visited each other in garages here in Reykjavik. Therefore I think I have taken the first step in the first and only tractor club here in Iceland. We have been asked to have a little tractor show in a outdoor museum here in Reykjavik next summer. |
