Hi all. Very interested in learning all there is to know about the little grey tractor. I recently acquired mine through a family trade deal (traded something I had which they wanted for the tractor).
It wasn't running actually but had apparently ran the year before I got it. Not too much rust for the age but I spent a few hours with it and finally had it running. I cleaned out the sediment bowl, inspected the inside of the carb, attempted to get some spark plugs that weren't fouled that would work and now she runs pretty good. Still have some minor issues to deal with such as getting some better rear and possbily front tires, checking to see if there is an oil filter and changing oil and replacing breather element, getting a switch for headlights as it's missing and getting some front 6Volt headlight sealed beams as one is broken, wiring the lights, obtaining the rear worklamp sealed beam and bezel as they're missing, getting the rightside 3pt adjuster working or replaced as it is seized, and maybe a replacement steering wheel as it's quite cracked some paint and she'll look nearly as good as new.
I love your site! its nice to see people have a common interest with me. I frequently work on a 1962 MF 35 tractors and I have never had a problem with it.
Glad to hear the fruits of Harry Ferguson's genius are still being appreciated. My Dad started out with a TO-20 in 1949 and switched to a TO-30 in 1953, which I still have and use regularly on the farm. A GREAT tractor.
